(A post full of no life jokes with some information not to be taken seriously — you have been warned)
UPDATE: I notice some people did not get some of the jokes in this article. Therefore, I am “labeling” them carefully.
If you haven’t read about it, Nuffnang was featured in The Star (InTech) yesterday. A few bloggers that was mentioned include Chan Lilian, Gareth Davies and Jeff Ooi. <JOKE>Somehow, I felt that they left out one “key” blogger in this article — ME.</JOKE> I know I don’t have a place beside any of these big names but I’m sure a few posts that I wrote about Nuffnang might be interesting. If that is not enough, why not have some desert?
Anyway, I noticed some information in the article is inaccurate has changed. I don’t blame them because at the rate things are changing “over there”, any information could be stale in another week.
On an unrelated note, Kenny Sia has been made “Nuffnang Featured Blogger for the month of June”. If you haven’t heard of the guy (highly unlikely), head over to the above link to get a “summary” of who he is and what he has been blogging about. I was surprised that he mentioned about the “FIFA World Cup football tutorial”. The last time I read, there was some controversy about it. Not exactly sure about the whole story though.
<JOKE>Lastly, a highly reliable inside source told me who “Nuffnang Featured Blogger for the month of July” could be.

Maybe not.</JOKE>

Tai lo ar.. say next post got ur face 1…aiseh…haaha…well, as expected, written for non reader or bloggers…
Since when mainstream likes “spicy” stuff.. U make another “ball” video and pass to Jeff la…then maybe you get to feature in In Tech.. AHHAHAH
Oups… just realised… OOUI…. can’t c direct face one…
@Freethinker
Not my fault ma. I didn’t know the photographer taking photo also. Side view better than no view, right? Hahaha.
I think mainstream likes spicy topics as well but maybe some couldn’t write about it? I don’t know…don’t want to talk too much on something I’m not sure about.
Just noticed, I’m commentator of the MONTH !!
wah, kelwin, you really that desperate to be featured? come come,. u pay me USD5, mmm, i give you 10% discount, USD4.50 i feature you on my blog!
Hmm, I agree that you should have at least been giving a footnote mention. Don’t these ppl use Technorati or Google Blog Search?
And speaking of that Kenny Sia controversy, I was the culprit.
Shameless self-promotion follows:

Nolar… the new conroversy is the accident one but mooiness, I saw yours too… HAHHA
Freethinker: oh the accident I wrote about also. Hahah! But Kelwin mentioned the FIFA one mah!
@Freethinker
Yeah. I just installed the plugin (recommended on 5xmom’s) blog. But no prize, ok? Haha.
@Mossie`Ol Chin
No lerr…at the top of this post I did mention I just joking, right? hehe. Wah…we can consider “friend” but you still want to charge me? Even so, discount only 10%? Aiyo~~~
@mooiness
Before things get out of hand, I was just joking about 1) felt that TheStar left me out, and 2) being nuffnang’s july featured blogger.
Hehe, I know. However, let’s put that “story” aside, ok? It’s been so long and I’m not trying to protect anyone. Let’s move on. There are other things more interesting, like the one over at kinkybluefairy’s blog. It is hillarious to read the comments. Some are so predictable.
Hehe I just saw the comments there. Boy, the reporter from Star PWNs!
I’m not sure if she got the information (date of launch) wrong. I’m too lazy to check. Some of the information in the article may not be accurate now, but I am confident she has checked it before publishing it (as she said).
To be honest, I feel she has done Josh a great favor. She did not emphasize their strengths as Josh would like it but she did not mention any of the “bad things” as well. If she is required to publish a follow up article to correct any information, I suggest she add some “spice” to it as well.
sometimes there need some neutrality in news report that’s why you see the article not selling any of them. it merely dissipating information to the masses
OMG..I just read the Kinky Fairy tale.. I was like… “Toot Toot toot”..
Felt like doing a argumentative piece using THAT as reference but Nah Nuffnang not paying me for publicity… HAHAH
What I seriously beats the BIG shit out of my mind is from 100 to 50 and to 0( related to one of my post that Kelwin had mentioned before )..
AND THEY NOW HAVE MEGA SALE of implementing ALL adverts for ALL blogs..
I’m like … how in the world ??!!
My personal thought is they are now diverting the loyalist group… didn’t realise local competition can be so fierce …
Somehow I dun fancy news that is too neutral..until it’s dead bored. I prefer argumentative and some thought provoking ones…
freethinker, ah, now i read that fairy tale… but i guess is only normal for people to be boasting about their own “HOO-HAA”, no?
anyway, maybe you can go talk to tim or ming and do a piece on it?
vaaaaaaaaaaiinn.. lol
apa ni.. i’m sure you won’t get the blogger of the month cozzz… where’s ur face?
turn around and take photo mar.. lol
@Mossie`Ol Chin
I agree with the neutrality part. I’m sure the reporter has a tonne of information (good and bad) with her. She did mention in the comment over at kbf’s blog that she read some “not-so-good” things about Josh but did not disclose it. That was a long article for sure but I am more interested with the blogger’s feedback in the article.
@Freethinker
I don’t really bother what they do. Healthy competition is good, especially to bloggers like me and you. However, bugs me the most is the lack of ethics in this so called “healthy” competition. The stupid comparison chart is a testimony to that.
@CincauHangus
Aiyoh, I was just joking about that part lah. Anyway, I have no idea someone was taking a photo at that moment. Hahahhaa.
Talk to Ming and Tim arr.. duwan la.. nanti they say I copycat pulak…
hey kelwin, i never knew u were such an attention whore! omg…!
I think the reporter has to be fair to Advertlets, I guess.
Though I must say that Advertlets knows it’s fallen behind and is fighting back very aggressively.
One of the things that I noticed was that previously I remember reading in their website that Advertlets means “small ad” like how applets are small applications.
The article mentions that Advertlets is a combination of Ads and Alerts.
hmmmm…..
@woofworks
* Kelwin goes to tapao hainan chicken rice (pak cham kai) and buys the strongest 6 inch PVC pipe in the market. *
Now, I bet you can’t bite off this PVC pipe, eh? Hahahaha. You were saying…?
.
@nyx
I’m not too sure if they would like to admit that they were behind. You are correct — their official (at least previously in their website) explanation for Advertlets was the combination of Advertisement / Advertising and applets. However, since Josh did not complain about this in the “fairy tale conversation”, I’m quite sure that was the explanation that he gave to the reporter (I may be wrong).
what’s the pak cham kai for ?
@Freethinker
Force-feed woofworks with pak cham kai using the PVC pipe. Hahahhaa. This is just a little joke between the two of us.
I saw the funniest thing today !!!! I saw an advertlets review from a blogger and one of the seller was that : they need ZERO requirements against the “competitor”’s 20 !!!
Man…not only mainstream paper provide me laughter…
I guess my assumption of the “growth rate” of loyalist is happening faster than I thought…
I think generally many of those bloggers who are not in the loop of what is happening will be like blind being led by another blind
@Freethinker
I believe there are many out there who doesn’t know the real “history” of what has happened. Then again, even if they do know, does it make a difference? I’ve said this a million times — it’s all about the money, no?
@Mossie`Ol Chin
If only they can be enlightened.
Congratulation!!! On u being nuffnang feature blogger for July.BTW I wander why no ads nowaday?? U got any infor on this?? Have a nice day.
@HORNY ANG MOH
LOL. H-A-M, no, I am NOT Nuffnang’s featured blogger for July. It was just a joke.
I notice seeing less banner ads served to the normal blogs that I visit as well. However, I did bump into some blogs that I rarely visit that are being served ads. I think I saw MPH and that Penang food court ad. Maybe Nuffnang is serving ads to the other bloggers that were not served before.
They are coming up with CPC ads this weekend. By then, I’m sure you can see ads served all around. Keeping my fingers crossed
Kelwin — how I know you wanted to be featured la? you never say oso -_-
Anyways, about the Advertlets name… Josh told me in an interview that it was ads alerts as well as ads applets. Either ways it’s a good name. I have the quote in handwriting in my paper notebook.
Aih…
It’s normal for reporters to collect a tonne of information (they should anyway) during research. The hard part comes in putting everything together to make it easy to read on print for the general public (which is my target audience). Of course, I cannot include everything — because even if I wanted to, the sub-editors and editors would chop it (and they’d probably chop my head off as well :P). I have good reasons behind why I include such and such info (based on many factors that a journalist must take into account when writing that blog ad article for print), but I would not bore you with the details.
I don’t know why I should even bother explaining myself since people will always question how someone does his/her job, but how can someone just keep quiet when there are others who question his/her professional integrity?
I suppose I’ll say this a final time:
Do know that I take great care when I write — whenever I have the smallest doubt, I would double- and triple-check my facts before I proceed. Do know that what you read is not entirely what I want to say (for most of the time). There’s always a lot more behind whatever we reporters write, but for many reasons we cannot include just about everything we come across (long articles = dead boring).
The purpose of my blog ad article was to inform readers (the general public mainly) about blog ads and some of its issues in Malaysia — and not to take sides with anyone. That is not my choice to make, but my readers.
And if you have doubts about what I say, maybe you could attempt to research and write an article like that for print (while having to endure a major car accident, time constraints, a tonne of other work and other snafus at the same time — umm, I’ll spare the details)….
… and maybe then you’d understand a little about how I feel.
Sorry if I sound upset. I’m not angry, really — I understand people always have good reasons behind whatever they do. But know that I do as well.
Sincerely,
Christy Lee
Doh… referring to the 2nd para above, I meant to put ads (plus) alerts and ads (plus) applets. Sorry.
Walau…u got Christy at your blog…
@Christy Lee … .
Hahaha. Now you also want to pull my leg is it? I mentioned I was just joking mah. All highlighted in red and identified with
Ads alerts? Hmmm…unless my memory is failing me, I have never heard him saying that before. Of course, he could have added it just for the interview, you know, it makes the name sound “better”.
Actually, sometimes I wished that I have an “editor”. At least the pros of having one lah…I don’t want the cons. LOL. I can just submit my post and have him/her check it. That way, I can go to the limit without going overboard. Better still, if got problem, blame him/her lah. (S)he passed it.
I know the work of a journalist is tough. Everything needs to be 101% accurate. Unlike blogs where we can edit them after publishing, it’s really quite impossible for a journalist. So, the “inaccuracy” really isn’t your fault. Since you mentioned that you checked it before you submitted the article.
On the contrary, I am actually quite interested in the works of a journalist. Got time to be my sifu? Haha.
@Freethinker
Yeah loh. My next target is to get someone from the government to comment in my blog. I hope it won’t be from the ISA lah. Hahaha. Errr…ISA is government body right? (just joking)
