Cross-stitch is one of the “handicrafts” that I learnt from my aunty during my teenage years. I started off with something simple and slowly progressed to something more challenging like the one below.
Marking the cloth with a pen before stitching simplifies and speeds up the stitching process. The marks will be covered by the “stitches” and should not be visible once it has completed. However, I did not mark the cloth before stitching because I didn’t want to dirty the cloth (even though I knew it won’t be visible). Due to that reason, stitching up this piece took extra time and effort.
I doubt I will ever stitch up another piece in the future. The one above took me probably 1 to 2 months to complete. I remember stitching it during the first few weeks after entering university. Imagine what my room-mate and passersby looking through my window (my room was on the ground floor) were thinking when they saw me stitching it.
If I were to auction it, how much do you think it’s worth?

Oh? So I am not alone. LOL. Belacu? I don’t know what that is. Anyway, when I first started, I stitched on a round “rotan” type. That one is easier. The “hole” (don’t know what it’s called) is bigger, and less stitches required.

Wow. Doing a cross-stitch on a pillow is quite creative. If you want to use your photo, you might need to send the photo to a shop that designs custom cross-stitch. I’m not sure where you can find one though. One thing about the pillows, if you make it dirty, you can’t scrub it. You can only soak it or else the threads might come loose (I think).

Wow. Thanks for the link. I’ve been searching for a service like that for some time now. I’ve tried using it and it works. One thing though, it doesn’t generate the individual thread marks and code them like what they do in the traditional “kit” we purchase. Will be tough to differentiate the different tones of colours ourselves.
