Cross-stitch is one of the “handicrafts” that I learnt from my aunty during my teenage years. I started off with something simple and slowly progressed to something more challenging like the one below.

Marking the cloth with a pen before stitching simplifies and speeds up the stitching process. The marks will be covered by the “stitches” and should not be visible once it has completed. However, I did not mark the cloth before stitching because I didn’t want to dirty the cloth (even though I knew it won’t be visible). Due to that reason, stitching up this piece took extra time and effort.
I doubt I will ever stitch up another piece in the future. The one above took me probably 1 to 2 months to complete. I remember stitching it during the first few weeks after entering university. Imagine what my room-mate and passersby looking through my window (my room was on the ground floor) were thinking when they saw me stitching it.
If I were to auction it, how much do you think it’s worth?

For once I thought I came into the wrong blog lol.
more than hundred I think..I also do the sticthing..huhu..But not on the net fabric, but on the “belacu” fabric I think.. ^__^
@anthraxxxx
Hope it didn’t scare you. LOL.
@Bat
Oh? So I am not alone. LOL. Belacu? I don’t know what that is. Anyway, when I first started, I stitched on a round “rotan” type. That one is easier. The “hole” (don’t know what it’s called) is bigger, and less stitches required.
No need to sell lah! Next time u can tell ur kids ‘this wan done by papa’. I am sure ur future kid will be proud of u.Have a nice weekend.
@HORNY ANG MOH
Thanks for the wishes. Actually, I don’t plan to sell it. I was just asking how much it would fetch if I were to sell it. That’s a present I made for my gf, so I can’t sell it. Hehe
hey, ur cross-stitch is so nice!!
im thinkin of doing cross-stitching too
but i want to make sumthing like this - http://jonathanadler.com/shop/product.php?productid=16578&cat=347&page=1
but using my own photo!
Wow. Doing a cross-stitch on a pillow is quite creative. If you want to use your photo, you might need to send the photo to a shop that designs custom cross-stitch. I’m not sure where you can find one though. One thing about the pillows, if you make it dirty, you can’t scrub it. You can only soak it or else the threads might come loose (I think).
Happy cross-stitching!
thanks for the tips!
Btw, you can submit photos to knitPro (http://www.microrevolt.org/knitPro/) and your photos will be converted into grid/pixel
and can be downloaded later as PDF
how much to sell?
Don’t sell.
Give to someone you like/love,
he/she will remember you forever.
that’s Priceless.
u’re kinda gay aren’t u? he he he!
@shambie adzhan
Wow. Thanks for the link. I’ve been searching for a service like that for some time now. I’ve tried using it and it works. One thing though, it doesn’t generate the individual thread marks and code them like what they do in the traditional “kit” we purchase. Will be tough to differentiate the different tones of colours ourselves.
@hanneng
Hehe. No lah, didn’t plan to sell it. I actually gave it to my gf already. I “borrowed” it to take a picture only.
@woofworks
Weiii…don’t lah reveal my secret. Hahaha
gasp! You’re in touch with your feminine side eh…..what a rarity!

Sorry for the late reply. My server was down the other day and I was kinda busy.
@mott
Yeah, it does strain the eyes. That’s why I think I am done with my last piece of cross-stitch. LOL.
@evelynholic
It’s not that tough, really. All you need is a starter kit, 5 minutes of basic tutorial, time and plenty of patience. Hehehe.
