Singapore Trip Day 2: Food, Butt Naked And Scenery

UPDATE: This post contains some corrections. Thanks to hanneng for pointing them out.

We were supposed to have buffet lunch with my cousin’s in-laws on that afternoon at 12pm. It will take us almost an hour to reach there by bus. After the mouth-watering supper and a 30 minute exercise the night before, we only managed to wake up around 10.30am that morning. Needless to say, we were late.

I don’t remember the restaurant’s name (actually, I didn’t even bothered to know at that time). I found the photo below in my collection of the Singapore trip photos. After doing some searching, I found out that the place is called Town Restaurant and it is located in the Fullerton Hotel just beside the Singapore river.

Town Restaurant at Fullerton Hotel

The place was fantastic and the food great. I went back and forth from my table to the food counters at least 5 times. I didn’t take much photos of the food. I do not want my cousin’s in-laws to think that I am from some kampung and have never seen such food in my life, do I?

Assorted meat and vege

Assorted seafood

Assorted desserts

More desserts

We could even make our own ABC for dessert! Sadly they do not have cendol.

My stomach was bloated when I finally decided that I would stop going to the food counters anymore. To be honest, there was still space left for more ;-) Anyway, I went outside to have a look at the surrounding sceneries. The tallest building in the photo below (Swissotel The Stamford) is where the wedding dinner will be held on the next day, that’s if I remembered correctly.

Bridge across the Singapore river

There were boats taking passengers for a ride along the river.

Walking down a few steps to the left, I saw a bunch of “kids” stripping butt naked before jumping into the river. And when I said butt naked, I meant butt naked with “all necessary organs” showing in detail.

Take a closer look between the legs and you’ll see the “sack of balls” in between ;-) That is how detailed the sculptures looked.

A trip to Singapore will never be complete without a photo with/of the Merlion.

My cousin brought us to the place below. It is called Esplanade. It is a place where arts and music are worshipped. Again, that’s if I remembered correctly. I don’t even remember the name of the place. Sorry.

A place where arts and music meet

This is part of the place where Singapore will celebrate its national day. The colourful platform on the left is the world’s largest floating platform ever built. The gigantic “wheel” on the right is probably Singapore’s “eye” called the Singapore Flyer.

The on-going construction of Singapore’s first casino. This is only part of it. I think it is built by Genting. It is called Las Vegas Sands and situated at Marina Bay. There’s another casino being built by Genting that will be at Sentosa. The good thing with the casinos is that Singaporeans no longer need to travel to Genting just to win/lose money.

Next update will be on the wedding dinner and it is coming soon (I hope).

      Wah, you makan at Fullerton Hotel, very expensive one leh, I think cost at least SG$60 per person.

      Being a Singaporean, let me add some comments (hope u don’t mind lah)

      1) The tallest building in the picture is a hotel, namely Swissotel The Stamford. It’s the tallest hotel in Asia. (used to be the tallest hotel in the world hor)

      2) The place where arts and music are worshipped is called Esplanade.

      3) Official name for Singapore eys is Singapore Flyer (Opening on Feb 2008)

      4) The first casino in Singapore is Las Vegas Sands at Marina Bay (as shown in your picture). The one by Genting is at Sentosa.

      Looking forward to your next post …

      @hanneng
      Honestly, I have no idea how much it costs. We weren’t the ones who paid the bill ;-) Thanks for your added info. Esplanade, yes, I remember hearing that word. I was searching at Google for the name of Singapore’s “eye”. Thanks for that info as well. And thanks for correcting me on the casino part. I didn’t know there were going to be two casinos in Singapore, for I have only heard of one.

      Will correct the infos soon.

      @HORNY ANG MOH
      The wedding dinner and place was nice. I’ll be posting some photos of that soon.

      Town Rest. is absolutely fantastic. Nothing beats that place in sunny Singapore. =)

      It only makes sense to build detailed sculptures like the Greeks did.
