There is an IRC channel dedicated for blogathon. It’s been ages since the last time I’ve chatted in IRC. I installed MIRC and went in the channel for 5 minutes before the Blogathon started. I’ve exited it ever since. I really can’t concentrate on too many things at the same time. LOL. However, if you’re interested in joining the group at the channel, the details of the server and chatroom is as below:
Server: irc.freenode.net
Port: 6667
Channel: #blogathon

IRC used to be the “hangout” place for me and my peers. I usually chat for hours each day. Sad to say, I was addicted to it. I remember chatting throughout the night until my eyes just couldn’t take it anymore. My eyes started losing focus, as in, both my eyes couldn’t focus on the same object properly. The whole room was spinning around.
So, what did I do after that?
I continued on! I “fixed” the “focus problem” by shutting one eye! LOL.
One thing good about IRC is that it enabled me to learn/practice my typing. I was able to touch type even in my early secondary school days. In fact, I’ve been quite proud of my ability to type without looking on the keyboards. Hehehe.
Can you touch type? Do you feel proud that you can, while some others don’t? ![]()

and yes, i learnt to type becos of irc!
What’s your nick in the IRC? I’m in there also, say Hi, will you?
@lingzie
hahaha. That reminds me of something I (we) used to type very frequently, “sorry…d/c”. LOL.
@pelf
I’m not in IRC anymore. Very confusing
It was IRC that improves my typing skills. I remember when i first got my computer, I typed like a tortoise. But now, I can proudly say I type without looking at the keyboard
Oh yeah IRC’s favorite pickup line:_
Guy:hi
Girl:hello
Guy: asl pls
girl: 40/f/kl
Guy: O i c.
Awkward silence after the last line.
@anthraxxxx
LOL! Not to forget that the conversation will end if boy meets boy. Hahaha. Not sure if it works the same way for girls.
Those are the days. Nowadays, at least for Malaysians or lesser my friends, other means of Internet chat are more popular. Web-based shoutboxes, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk, AIM, etc wtf. But I still think that nothing beats IRC.
@Aviator
Not sure about others but I haven’t been using IRC for many many years. So long that I don’t really remember their command much.
