What if one day your kids run up to you and say, “Daddy/Mummy, I want to be a problogger when I grow up! I want to be just like ProBlogger/LiewCF/Hongkiat/5xmom!”
What would you do?
Can you consider blogging as an occupation? Is there real future in blogging? Is it just some sort of hype that will eventually die off after a dozen year or so? What happens if your kids look for a job and say that they have no job experience apart from blogging.
What happens then?
It is no secret that many bloggers earn big bucks from blogging. However, is this something that is sustainable? Will the same successful blogger find that they no longer attracting the same amount of crowd, thus losing revenue in X years time?
Is blogging an occupation?

I think being a professional blogger is possible…just like being a professional novelist is possible. You can do it, but you need to have a lot of ambition, a lot of talent, and you need to work very hard.
if you do notice, most of the full time blogger have other income sources too, for example, internet marketing, talk, run training courses, seminar, etc
@Andrew Odlum
Not to forget a lot of support as well.
@hanneng
Hmmm…true. Sticking on one income source is quite risky. For them to hold talks and stuffs, they need to be really good in it too.
Yep, it’s possible. If you think it’s possible, it is. If you don’t think so, then it can be right too.
It’s all in the mind.
@Chee Kui
Yeah, I guess. If we are able to set out mind on a target a try our best to achieve it, it is possible to achieve.
Nay…I will go where the wind blows. After all, everyone gotta eat everyday and my food blogs will survive as long as people need to eat. Hehehe, anyway, thanks for the mention.
Welcome
I don’t do a good food blogger. I don’t explore food much. hehe.
Chan,
I hv this kick ass fotoblog with good rating and my ranking is always at the top of fotopages world. By my blogging earning are so low. I am doing this as a part time as I hv a day job.
Need yr kind advise on this. Maybe we can meet up. Cheers.
@AG
Hmmm…I’d love to help but if you’re finding ways to increase earnings…I’m not the one. I’m looking out for guides myself as I’m a noob on this. I’m not earning much from Adsense. Maybe you want to try out different ad format. Good luck!
maybe it is more like a occupation/job if someone hire you to blog.
@LiewCF
Hmmmm…I know what you mean. I was wondering if blogging professionally (and earning big bucks) is do-able. I’m sure you’re earning quite a lot from blogging and other stuffs. However, will your situation last for 10-20 years? Or is it just a “short term” earning thing?
