45 I Hate Static Electricity

This usually happens when I’m in a room where the floor is carpeted. After some time, whenever I touch metal objects (eg. metal cupboard, door noob, tap water, car etc) I will get a static shock. Sometimes, it is the shirt that I wear that accumulates static charges. It may sound trivial but when that happens often enough, I get paranoid when I’m about to touch any metal objects.

There is a “wrist band” that computer technicians wear on their wrist (of course — wrist band ;-) ) to drain away any static charges from the body. I’m seriously thinking of getting myself one of those. However, it would be wacky to do so. Therefore, the easiest way to avoid static shock is to open door knobs with a cloths instead. Or, you can always go barehanded and get a tiny shock.

44 PSA - Live Earth Commercials

I remember seeing the video commercials below when I was over at Singapore during the Live Earth weekend. These Live Earth commercial videos were playing on Channel 5 non-stop it got a little irritating at times. Anyway, what’s important is the message. We need to save the earth before it’s too late.

Recycle unwanted papers:

Use recycled kitchen towel:

Proper use of energy:

It’s miraculous how little things like this could add up. Off the lights when not in use. Answer the call.

43 TMnet Suck! Connection Down For Half An Hour

My previous post was published 20+ minutes late because my Internet connection (TMNet) was down for more than half an hour. I gave up hope on the damn connection coming back up already. As I was planning to go to the nearest cybercafe and continue this blogathon, I saw the signal on the modem which indicates the line is back up again.

This sucks. TMNet suck! Well, at least that’s what I found out after searching for “tmnet suck” at Google. Plenty of bloggers have complained on TMnet’s not up to the par service. Many have complained that “TMNet sucks!”

Baarrrgeerrr….

42 So Close Yet So Far

This will be the 42th instalment of the 49 post blogathon. Myself and a few hundred others have stayed up blogging for the past 20 and a half hours. There are only another 3 and a half hour to go. That’s the problem.

It may look like there are only another 3 and a half hour to go but it feels like there are still another 3 and a half hour more to go. LOL.

I have 3 guest posts in my hands earlier on. My strategy was to put the posts up one by one when I was “dry” or needed some time to rest. Unfortunately, I’ve used up all my 3 “help-lines”. My Streamyx is having connection problems now. Oh well, it’s Streamyx. What more can I ask of it?

So close yet so far. Food and my bed is the biggest temptation right now.

41 What Do A Fool And An Accident Have In Common?

(This post may contain certain words (eg. fool) which may sound harsh and offensive for some. If you find it offensive, stop reading NOW!)

**********

Answer: One will not exist without the other.

There are different types of accidents. Some are fatal; some serious injuries while others minor/no injuries. In this post, I’ll only cover the accidents that caused minor/no injuries.

If you’ve been driving for some time, I’m sure you would have notice how some drivers are just plain ignorant when it comes to traffic rules or safety. They may:

  • switch lanes without signalling / looking into the mirrors
  • drive out of a parking lot without signalling / looking into the mirrors
  • drive in the wrong lane
  • cut in front of you without signalling
  • etc.

Sometimes, minor accidents happen when these fools are around. Other unsuspecting drivers become victims of such carelessness. Some of these accidents can be avoided if the driver (aka Mr. Foo-l) practised proper driving ethics. This group of “careless drivers” is not a specific group of the society. I’ve seen young, mid-age and old drivers driving recklessly. I’ve seen male and female drivers doing the same. I’ve seen different races doing the same.

Therefore, this isn’t about a certain group in the society. It’s bluntly on certain individuals who give no thoughts to public safety while driving.

I know that sometimes people do make mistakes. I have made plenty mistakes in the past. I’m not blaming these genuine mistakes. I was pointing out how some people are involved or caused an accident due to their own negligence. There are fools out there on the road. Just make sure you are not one of them.

Hmmm…it must be the lack of sleep. It’s getting into my head. I’m feeling hungry but I couldn’t grab a bite. I easily get frustrated/angry when I’m hungry. Have I gone over the limit with this post?
