@anthraxxxx
Honestly, I feel some of the ministers have been making a fool of themselves. I've read different reports stating that they wanted to sue him because of the lyrics, and then change to anthem, and then racist remarks, then national interest, sedition act, now national anthem act.

It looks to me like they're not even sure what can be used against him and just want to simply "bantai" with whatever they can get their hands on. Scare tactics.

@hanneng
To me, they look like they are "hurt" by the rap and are angry thus over-reacting. The rap has got this much publicity thanks to them as well.

@mooiness
Well...Malaysia Boleh! mah. Everything boleh, sure boleh, pasti boleh. Other goverments can't because they tak boleh. Malaysia pasti boleh!

On a serious note, I have a feeling everything that is being done lately has its reasons -- politically. Their scare tactics on bloggers (unfortunately worked quite well on me) shows they're starting to fear the big time bloggers like Jeff, RPK, etc. Since they can't get their hands on any of them, a "pawn" needs to be sacrificed. They are pushing it and I hope they don't go too far.

@ramzy0
Well, I'm not sure if they will do it. I think Google will be laughing when they get this story. Let's see if the minister is serious or just spoken without much thinking.

When there were some videos insulting the King of Thailand, Thailand did not resort to suing but they ban the site for a while. And when they did remove the ban, they asked for Youtube to take down the videos.

Why does Malaysia have to make such a bigger fuss about it, especially so close to Merdeka Day? When the world catches wind of this, Malaysia will get free publicity all right - but the wrong kind.

And good luck trying to sue Youtube/Google. They've dealt with larger and more powerful governments than Malaysia.

I agree with you that Namewee is a pawn being used - to weaken and humiliate MCA perhaps? Even ZM looked stupid now that the cabinet has reversed what he said and he's the Information Minister!
