Malaysia Produces Home Grown “Terrorist Wannabes”
Posted by Chan Kelwin in Malaysia oh MalaysiaJust a few hours shy of Malaysia’s 50th anniversary of independence, Jeff Ooi’s Screenshots reported a video clip on YouTube that contained a warning given out to Namewee, the Negarakuku rapper. There were four males in the video that may/should be Malaysian youths. They were all dressed in “terrorist outfits” and ski mask.
One of them held a piece of paper while reading the “warning” to Namewee. Namewee was warned that he will face “punishments” when he returns to Tanah Melayu (they meant Malaysia). Another guy was holding a weapon in his hands, possibly a keris (a traditional Malay weapon).
I won’t be embedding the video here. It is very disturbing (at least to me).
P/s: I wonder when will CNN / Al jazeera pick this up. This news is HOT!

I was pretty disgusted by it too and I’m pretty sure none of “them” would jump up and down about this one. Reverse the situation and see wht happen.
Disgraceful, especially so close to Merdeka Day.
Keris? It looked like a pembaris to me.
I find the use of ‘Tanah Melayu’ disturbing too, considering at the same week, the term was discussed here (http://www.bakrimusa.com/archives/malaysia-and-the-myth-of-tanah-melayu)
Sad also to see some misguided youths who seem to be following the wrong trend (not just terrorists, but the keris)

It is very sad. I have no idea what the guys were thinking. A joke maybe? Compare this video with Namewee’s Negarakuku. I personally feel that the former is a lot worse than the latter. They were all dressed up in “terrorist suits” and does look like a “certain group”. Doesn’t that tarnish Malaysia’s image? So, I really wonder what the government is going to do about this.
@anthraxxxx
I read some comments saying it looked like a ruler as well. However, to me it looks like either a “sabit” or a “curved” keris.
@sandman
I’ve gone to the link you provided and honestly, I barely read 10% of it. Too much for me to take. From what I know, currently there is no such place as “Tanah Melayu”. There’s only Malaysia. Strange why the guys in the video used the “TM” term.
And I agree with you that they are somehow misguided. I don’t know where the “terrorist idea” came in place but I can point to you where they could have gotten the keris idea.
