I just got back from a memorial service that was held to mark the 1st anniversary of the death of my pastor’s wife. There were some food prepared for us after the service but I didn’t eat anything. The food looked great but I was too lazy to queue up. Another reason was that I just wanted to go home to blog and to finish up one of my “homework” that is due tonight. ;-)

This reminded me something that happened when I was a kid. I used to take piano lessons from this “Mr Money”. Some of his students called him that because he has a “Wang” in his name. Once, he told me that he received a card from his student that wrote, “Dear Mr. XXX YYY $$$$”.

Anyway, back to the story. One day, he bought some nice looking mechanical pencils and gave it to some of his students as a gift. I was one of the lucky ones. However, I did not accept the gift. He persuaded me for the next hour or so but I still rejected it at the end. I regretted it later.

A few days later when I was at a bookstore with my mom, I saw the same mechanical pencil and “forced” her to buy it for me. It costs some where between RM7 to RM15. That is damn expensive for a mechanical pencil. I should have just accepted it as a gift at the first place. Why didn’t I? Don’t ask me.

Back to the present time. Do I feel regret not eating at the end of the service? You bet. Now excuse me while I go eat the KFC my mom bought back for me. :-P
