Today is the second day of the fasting month. As usual, most Mamak and Malay stalls are closed until late in the afternoon. That is because our Muslim friends cannot serve food in the day time. When I was thinking about this, something came into my mind.
What if blogs were religious?
If blogs were religious, bloggers maintaining a food blog would have to stop blogging in the day time during this fasting month. A more extreme practice would be to temporary shutdown their blogs in the day time. Think about it.
Anyway, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my Muslim friends a very happy fasting month. Indulge in the true meaning of the fasting month and may you enjoy the celebration at the end of it.
Note: This post does not aim to disrespect any religion/belief. Just in case some ultra sensitive folks get irritated for nothing. Every race and religion has their own “fasting period”. If somehow you find this post offensive, probably you are the one having problems.

Pishtosh. Even in real life, I don’t care if people eat or not. I’m fasting, not them. I don’t want to inconvenience people by not having them do what they want because I’m too weak to handle my own will.
I say eat and drink in front of your Muslim friends. Strength of will is measured by yourself, not by the absence of others.

Well, my Muslim friends used to tell me the same thing. Just eat or drink even if it’s in front of them because they really don’t mind it. However, it’s still a little strange to be doing that. Anyway, I think it’s ok to eat/drink in front of our friends (if they don’t mind) but not in front of a big crowd. After all, every individual is different.
