Lingam tape. Pita Lingam. Lingam talking on a phone tape.
The whole of Malaysia must be talking about the infamous Lingam tape. Malaysiakini has reported a few articles on this. Many have commented in Malaysia-Today. That’s not all. Jeff Ooi will be joining the peaceful march with the other lawyers from the Palace of Justice to the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya today at 11am. This is an effort to request for a Royal Commission to investigate issues jeopardizing the Judiciary.
The government has set up an independent three member panel to look into the Lingam tape allegations. If it is true that the alleged appointment of “friendly” senior judges did take place, will the “independent-ness” of the independent panel be jeopardized?

How can a person be independent when one of them sits on the boards of several companies including GLCs and also government=related bodies such as NIOSH and National Service?
Unimpressed.
For a case like this, they have to set up an Independent Panel? And also, it’s the panel job to only determine the authenticity of the tape?
One, having to set up an independent panel means that they know the public has a total lack of confidence in the ACA and the police, who is in charge of criminal cases like this. Otherwise why not let those organizations do the investigations.
Two, they sure are according a lot of “fair” procedure. I’d like to see Lingam and the CJ being pulled up just like Nathaniel Tan, Jeff Ooi, Rocky Bru and Raja Petra and being interrogated for hours over mere WORDS on a website. This is a VIDEO. Why the double (triple?) standard? Even the ex-coach who reported a fraud to the ACA was pulled up and questioned for hours, and she was the one who reported it!
Three, I think EVERYONE knows this is big B.S. I just hope they know how to vote in the elections.

The “multiple-standards” we have is no secret. If the tape is real, it only proves that some people get better treatments than others. Politicians are like “Gods” around here. Don’t mess with them. Haha.
