The Drive of Life is Astro’s first movie on demand package that was introduced over a month ago. We were given free viewings to the first few episodes of the drama series. The following viewings will be charged at 99 cents per episode. After catching the first few episodes, it is really difficult not to subscribe to their package.
Last night was the 48th episode out of 60 in total. It was only last weekend where I found out that The Drive of Life torrents are circulating through the Internet. After doing some searching, the Mandarin version of the series has already been uploaded at least until the 58th episode. Meanwhile, I found the 49th and 50th episode for the Cantonese version.
If only I knew about this earlier, I wouldn’t have subscribed to it thus saving over RM50. There are even people who have uploaded the Cantonese version onto a video sharing website. I won’t be sharing any links here though. If you want it, go search for it yourself. It really isn’t that tough. Welcome to Astro (download) on demand!

After reading some of the responses in the previous post, I realize that there are some misunderstandings. So I better clear things up before it gets out of hand. Firstly, I knew making fun of others is like playing with fire. You get burnt if you are not careful. Occasionally, we make fun of others in one way or another. As I said, it is normal as long as we do not go overboard with it. In this case, I hope I have not.
ShaolinTiger expressed his unhappiness (in the comment) over people who make fun of other’s linguistic shortcomings. I totally agree with that and that we should never make fun of others in this area. I have close friends who may not speak the best English in the world. Therefore I have learned to respect this “rule”.
I do not believe that I was making fun of the cyber cafe owner’s English mistake (ie. chating instead of chatting). I was merely pointing out a spelling mistake. If I am not mistaken, there is a section in one of the local newspapers named “b00b watch” (or something like that) that does the same thing. It displays photos of signs/banners with spelling mistakes and corrects them.
This brings me to another point. There is a difference between laughing at a spelling mistake written on a banner/signboard/window etc and laughing at a person speaking broken English. The former could be due to genuine human error. Meanwhile, the latter is plain evil. In this case, I think I wasn’t in the “evil zone”.
As for the point on the “yellow writings on the window”, I do not believe it made fun of a person’s English. In fact, it has nothing to do with language. As I mentioned in the earlier post, I suggested that they were replaced with a more generic term like Internet, games, printing, etc.
I apologize if I offended anyone unconsciously. No hard feelings, ok?

I found this celebrity collage software from hcfoo. It looks fun so I decided to play with it a while. Have you wondered who your celebrity look-alikes are? Try this out.

At first, I took the photo I sketched the other day to test it out. The result is quite disappointing, really. The only guy in my list of celebrity look-alikes is Kenny Chesney. The morph between my photo and Carmen Kass’ looked freakily similar. However, it was Madonna’s teeth that matches mine the most.

Not satisfied with my first result, I used a photo I took recently. This time two male celebrities, Ethan Hawke and John Cho(w) were in the list. Feeling more confident, I dug out another older photo and got the result below.

My “newest” celebrity look-alikes are Jericho Rosales, Kanye West, Nick Carter, Dr. Dre and Fernando Alonso. LOL. How I wish it was true.

Making fun of people is bad.
Making fun of people is wrong.
Making fun of people is disrespectful.
Making fun of people is funny
(sometimes lah…and make sure don’t go overboard).
The photo below was taken outside a cyber cafe. What mistake(s) can you spot in it?

- Chating service instead of chatting service.
- There is writing on the door that says untuk ahli sahaja which means for members only. I have been into cyber cafes that give discounts to members but this is the first time I see one that says, “You have to be a member to be here!”
- You can only check your email if you are using hotmail or yahoo mail. No Gmail or other email services allowed!
It is funny that people prepare a list like that (yellow writing on the window in the photo). Who on earth doesn’t know what you can do in a cyber cafe? Duh! If they really want to list it out, they could have been more general with it (eg. Internet, printing, games, etc). Did you manage to spot anything else?

Added: There seems to be some misunderstanding, so I have written another post (initially, it was a comment but it was too long). Read this.

This is an update on the post where I was accused of plagiarizing.
I submitted a ticket to the support team and waited patiently for a reply. Thankfully, it was a positive response. My post is finally accepted and everything is well again. I didn’t mention any names before this problem is settled because I don’t want the problem to escalate. Now that it is over, I believe it is time to put everything on the table so that no misunderstanding (towards me or the advertiser) will occur.
The post where I was said to have plagiarized is the one about PayPerPost University. I was very frustrated when I first got to know about it. I immediately fired a ticket to PPP’s support in anger. My body was filled with a rush of negative energy at that moment. The thought of being rejected on the claims of plagiarism for a post I grabbed during the $1K Tuesday seems too “coincidental”. Thankfully I wasn’t able to submit the ticket because my connection was down. (Never do anything in anger!) I submitted a new ticket the next morning that is milder but with “thorns” here and there.
The support team reviewed my post again yesterday and has approved it. I still do not know why it was rejected at the first place. Based on what or who? It doesn’t matter anymore. Everything is fine now and there are no ill feelings left. The reply also stated that all plagiarism allegations will be backed up with proof and other sources before they reject any posts in the future.
Nothing is perfect. There have been some disagreements within the PPP community lately regarding the recent changes to their TOS. Some posties ended up writing less for PPP and have diverted their attention towards other sources. As for me, I will be staying put since they are one of my biggest earners (pssttt…biggest actually :-P).
