The previous TVB series, The Drive of Life has ended and other new Astro on Demand shows are kicking in. However, there are reports that the latest movies are sold in the form of pirated DVDs at only RM5 per disc at Penang. Collecting the full set of DVDs would only cost RM30 versus RM59.40 that we need to pay to subscribe to Astro on Demand.
When The Star’s reporter interviewed a pirated DVD buyer of the latest series, he commented that he “can pass the DVDs to my family and friends after viewing them”. That is so true. In fact, I wouldn’t mind forking out RM60 to buy a set of DVDs for any of the series simply based on this reason alone.
On the other hand, I wouldn’t do it because buying pirated DVDs is against the law. However, this is another topic completely. I am not encouraging anyone to buy pirated goods nor am I recommending you to subscribe to some overpriced drama series.
