Formula 1 racingTonight will be the final race where one of three possible drivers — Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen — will win the Formula One Driver’s Championship. Hamilton currently has a four points lead in the championship. Looking at their qualifying positions, he has a good chance of winning the title provided that nothing like the Shanghai GP happens again.

Previously, I mentioned that I guessed who would win the drivers championship and why. If I were to put my money on any of the three drivers, it would be on Raikkonen. Yeah, it is crazy to be voting for Raikkonen at this moment since he is a distant seven points adrift. So why am I being so silly?

The main reason is that I do not believe that any of the McLaren drivers deserve to win the driver’s championship. This is due to the speed and knowledge advantage they have as a direct result of the stolen data obtained illegally from the Ferrari team. Although their team has been stripped off all constructors’ points and fined $100 million, their drivers have already benefited from them. Therefore, it is safe to say that the drivers might not have scored as many points as they do now if it wasn’t due to the stolen data.

The spy saga has somehow spoilt this year’s championship – drivers and constructors. The FIA did not strip off all points from the two McLaren drivers because doing so would mean that both championships are decided off track. If that happened, the whole of this season would be nothing but a joke.

I wonder if it’s possible that although the McLaren drivers were not stripped off their points but the championship has already been decided off track. That is, Kimi Raikkonen being the winner. For that to happen, both the McLaren drivers need to lose some points by not finishing one or two races and maybe one where both of them crash into each other.

The first situation has happened — both Alonso and Hamilton crashed and beached out in at least one race in the past few races. The second, where the two will collide and crash out is what I foresee happening in this final race.

I know it is a crazy thought. I was hoping that the two drivers were to start the race side by side and take each other off in the first corner. However, their qualifying positions would mean that it is impossible.

Let’s see what happens in the race.
