I totally get what you mean. I recently experienced the same thing except that i was in the car at my own home. I opened my gate to park my car inside, saw two men on the motorcycle. I felt really uncomfortable so i stayed in the car but my gate was still opened. one of them came towards the passenger's side and crashed my window. took my bag and fled off. i was in shock so didn't do anything. after few seconds, i ran outside and shouted at them. went back in the car and tried to chase them but that time was peak hour where everybody is on their way back from work. honk at the police car in front of me, but the police dude ignored me. i am still in shock and still afraid that it would happen again. my advise to all the girls, please do not carry handbags. it is advisable that u put everything in your pocket. they wont stop what they do. it's like an addiction. how i wish im a supergirl....

@WinsonLee
There should be snatch thief cases in car parks as well, no? I don't think anywhere is completely safe. Now and then, there will be news like these reported in the papers. I really wonder if "they" are doing anything about it. There is no point if these cases are just reported but no action taken to prevent future incidents.

I know bringing a handbag out is a need for girl as girls has much accessories to be placed in the bag. If you are parking within the shopping centre car park, fair enough that it is safe to use a handbag as you will not see a snatch thieves who ride a motorbike going into the carpark. If you foresee yourself walking along the road, either do not bring a handbag with you or you can always ask your bf to carry the bag for you. Although I do agree that I do not see it appropriate for guys to carry handbag in the shopping centre for their gf, but when comes to the safety of their gf, they would have to.

No matter how unhappy, reluctant or even angry we are with all these issues, we still lives here. We can't change what they are doing. We depend or expect the police to arrest all these bastard within a night. As long as poverty is an issue for a country, these issues will just encourage people to steal, rob or even kill just to make sure that they survive. We can't prevent this from happening. Taking precaution is the only way.

@Scud
I don't condone violence but to see how some snatch thief victims end up, I wouldn't feel as bad watching them getting beaten up.

What we need now is for those people in power to realize that reducing the crime rate is as important as trying to stay (or get) in power. Something I don't see happening in the near future.

My friends and even their relatives got snatch by thieves a few times in a year..
It can't even save your live by wearing a helmet 24 hours..

What I hated most is those f**king bikers who always ride their bike without helmet, searching all around residential area for a chance..!

And I always wanted to gather in a group, find some f**kers, let them make their move, make sure that he's the f**ker, WALL HIM UP!!!

"I just can't imagine if our love ones is the victim"

PS : Wish your friend to recover soon.

@Why Cares
Arming yourself with an umbrella seems to be one of the most popular advices people give to snatch thief victims and those who want to prevent from becoming one. Unfortunately, I doubt it may help much, if any at all. Just take a look at the videos above.

In my friend's case, she didn't even know what hit her. She didn't even noticed or heard any motorbike before she fainted. All she remembered was waking up in the hospital.

I honestly don't think the belt idea will work at all. These snatch thief incidents happened faster than you can blink an eye. Still got time to unbuckle your belt?

@Angie Tan
The image of the police force has been thrown in the drain lately. I've heard from the neighbors how it is of "no use" to report such incidents to the police. I'm sure they get many reports in a week, maybe even daily. What are they doing about it? Apart from just recording the victim's statements?

@3POINT8
Seriously with all the money flying in and out, here and there, I doubt much will be allocated to improve anything. Is there any hope left with the current politic situation in Malaysia?

I am almost at the point where I don't give a flying-saucer what these people do. As long as I can walk freely on the streets without having to worry for my safety and they don't burn down this country, I really do not want to bother.

@Allan
No problem. She is fine but I worry for the other people whom may fall victim next, if not already.

@Lisa
It is definitely not "that" safe in our streets anymore. If only those people in power actually bother to do something about it. They are probably much better off since they have drivers fetching them in their official cars wherever they want to go. Not forgetting the bodyguards they bring along when they walk into some of the darkest streets in Malaysia. How would they ever know how it feels to be one of us walking these streets?

@Jasonmighty
No one is safe. Some attack their victims without weapons, these aren't as bad as those using a knife, parang or stick. Many cases have been reported in the media. Some politicians come out and say this, say that. Is there any improvement at all after that?
