Personally, I think it is just for the sake of knowing where the person come from and to know at least an idea of how to relate to them. I am not really sure, though, and I guess it should not be a must to include the race info on these forms.

Different races, of course different used of language. This is actually equally connected on your belief and other things that might consider important as you are. Personality, traits, religions and how you deal with the other person. But each of us are equal, we are God’s creator and we must deal each person equally.

@Angel: I never had a problem filling that up as well. Like I said, the problem (if any) isn’t in the filling up of the race information itself. Unfortunately, some people think otherwise.

@Ikram: I have not read any follow ups on this issue. Maybe they have buried it? I’d be surprised if they approved it.

actually, this is one of the stupidest decisions I think the cabinet has made in years. so to keep the ’1 malaysia’ spirit, lets just delete ‘race’ from official forms. hahahahahaha

and the funnier thing is that, people actually believe this can help ‘unite’ us and vote NO.

I agree with you, we never had a problem filling in race. I think maybe they think they are at a disadvantage if they put race as ‘chinese/cina’ or ‘indian/india’ or ‘lain-lain’. Like you said, your name will give it away anyway.

Unless your name is Ahmad Petrovsky or Steven Anand Danker… woah..
