Anyway, the good news is that the earlier warning of a possible tsunami in Malaysia has been retracted. It was reported in the 11pm news last night on TV. However, two lost of lives and 11 others were injured in the earthquake. There shouldn’t be anything to worry now. If you are, just stay tuned for news on TV and radio as well as stay off the coastal area for a while.
I would launch a massive fireworks display right now in my blog if I had the proper plugins or tools. Something needs to be done to celebrate this great day.
Malaysia is 50 years old! Some may argue that it’s 44 instead but I wouldn’t go into that since I don’t know much about it.
Malaysia has progressed from being known for its forests and orangutans to twin towers and great people from different backgrounds to co-exist peacefully. Although there are a few hiccups every now and then, I still believe that real Malaysians are united.
As I was writing this post, I heard some bang bang booms. Fireworks! I managed to get some shots, albeit lousy in quality. I can see some of the firework display right over my neighbor’s roof. LOL. Below are some “presentable” ones.
Just a few hours shy of Malaysia’s 50th anniversary of independence, Jeff Ooi’s Screenshots reported a video clip on YouTube that contained a warning given out to Namewee, the Negarakuku rapper. There were four males in the video that may/should be Malaysian youths. They were all dressed in “terrorist outfits” and ski mask.
One of them held a piece of paper while reading the “warning” to Namewee. Namewee was warned that he will face “punishments” when he returns to Tanah Melayu (they meant Malaysia). Another guy was holding a weapon in his hands, possibly a keris (a traditional Malay weapon).
I won’t be embedding the video here. It is very disturbing (at least to me).
P/s: I wonder when will CNN / Al jazeera pick this up. This news is HOT!
Namewee is launching a new album. If I am not mistaken, it should be out on 3rd September 2007. He made the video below as a preview / announcement for that launch.
After watching the video a couple of times, something hit me and I was enlightened. I noticed some similarity between Namewee and Chu Mei-feng. If you haven’t heard of Chu Mei-feng, where on earth have you been? She was the Taiwan politician who got involved in a sex scandal with a married man a few years ago. Their “act” was recorded on video and was circulated on VCD and the Internet.
Anyway, below are the similarities that I noticed.
Lately, it seems like the government is going after bloggers — suing, detain for questioning, childish name calling, etc. I consider myself being kind to say that they are just finding fault with bloggers (and not very good at it too). I used to think that they were probably just targeting socio-political bloggers only. Since I am not in that “category” of bloggers, I thought I should be safe.
I was wrong.
They are even going after bloggers who have seditious comments in their blog left by a third party. In my opinion, they should track down the person who commented using the IP address logged instead of detaining the blog owner. Don’t they know how the Internet works?
Anyway, I am listening to Kamigoroshi’s advice to put up a blog policy or a disclaimer for my blog. However, I doubt any disclaimer will be strong enough to ward off all “attacks”. If someone wants to get you, they’ll get you one way or another. Bah!
